Reverend Jordan Ashley (aka Jourdan) was born 1801 in Ashe Co., NC and died 1864 in Swifts Creek, Wolfe Co., KY. Rev Jordan Ashley can be found in many marriage records of his era. Martha Ashley married on 21 February 1850 to William "Med" Smith.  William Medford "Med" Smith was born 23 February 1825 in KY and died 9 January 1891 in Smithsboro, Knott Co., KY. William Med was the son of William Smith II and Millie Combs

  Mary Ashley was born 19 March 1831 in KY and died after 1859 in Letcher Co., KY. Mary married about 1850 in KY to Alexander Smith.  Alexander was born about 1828 and died before 1890 in Letcher Co., KY. Alexander was the son of William Smith II and Millie Combs. Mary also married William Martin.

  Jesse Smyth Ashley was born 1834 in NC. Jesse Smyth Ashley married 20 March 1856 in Perry Co KY to Elizabeth Cornett. Elizabeth Cornett was born in 1838.  Children of Jesse Ashley and Elizabeth Cornett; Francis Ashley (female) born about 1855, John S Ashley born about 1859 and Jordan Ashley born about 1861.   Larkin Sheppard Ashley was born 1837 in NC. Larkin Sheppard Ashley served in Company B of the 13th Kentucky Cavalry (CSA) under the command of Colonel. Benjamin Everage Caudill, the son of John Adams CAUDILL and Rachel CORNETT. He and 119 others were captured at the Battle of Gladeville, VA, July 7, 1863.

According to Colonel Caudill's diary, the enlisted men captured at Gladeville were taken to Camp Chase near Columbus, Ohio, then to Camp Douglas near Chicago, Illinois.  Larkin was not heard from again after his capture. More about Larkin Sheppard Ashley.

  Hilliard Jordan Ashley was born in 1839 in NC.
