  Eliza Frances Reynolds was born on 16 December, 1877 in Seco, Letcher Co., KY and died on 26 April, 1975. Eliza is buried in the Reynolds Cemetery, Seco KY. She married on 6 October, 1894 to Joel Martin "Mart" Potter in Whitesburg KY. This is our Grandmother (Granny). She was the most precious person in the world to me. I miss her every day even though I lost her years and years ago.

Eliza Frances Reynolds was considered to be a very beautiful young woman. In beauty contests she would be asked to remove the rouge from her cheeks when she didn't have any on. She was a tiny little woman who took after her Grandmother, Mary Chaney Stone Reynolds who was very small in stature and barely weighed 80 pounds.

Our Grandmother (Granny) once had considerable property that was rich in coal, but she somehow lost it. It is believed that someone very cunning took it from her and she never got it back. She died with nothing and there was no inheritance for any of Dad's children. It's very sad and a great mystery to me.

Joel "Mart" Potter was born 4 March 1875 in Letcher Co., KY and died 20 April 1949 in Letcher Co., KY. Mart was the son of Abraham Potter 1837 and Sarah "Sallie" Wright. Joel Martin "Mart" Potter is buried in the Potter Family Cemetery, Payne Gap, KY.

Eliza Frances Reynolds married (2nd) to Thomas Davis. They are found in the 1910 Letcher Co KY Census, Elkhorn Precinct listed below. (Millstone written in pencil at top of census for some reason). Eliza's tombstone lists her as Eliza Davis 1877-1975 "Grannie".

The article below was from the Louisville Courier.

The journalist described John Reynolds as an unusually handsome man who talks splendidly. He accounted that no one would "take him for" an outlaw.

From The Article in Louisville Courier 1901;

In a column of twos, the party rode as fast as the road permitted, right on to the Reynolds' stronghold. The road hid them until within 200 yards.

Suddenly Noah Reynolds, with a big pistol at his side, appeared on the back porch. He came out to the front gate. The posse tumbled off the horses. "There's no-one here, boys," said Noah Reynolds. We've come for John, said Sol Wright. "He is too bad hurt to go," said Noah. We want to see him, then."  Without a word, Noah Reynolds led the way past the little square brick building used a a stronghold, into the big house.

John Reynolds lay on a bed with his arm exposed. He was ill from the fever of his wound. No one would ever take him for an outlaw or a man credited with a killing. He is unusually handsome, talks splendidly, and like Morgan Reynolds, John Reynolds was a school teacher.
