William Smith II
and Millie Combs

William Smith II was born in 1795 in TN and died 15 February 1875 in Letcher County, KY William Smith II was the son of Rev Richard Smith and Aletia Combs Smith). William Smith II married on 13 August 1838 in Perry County KY to Millie Combs.

Millie Combs was born in 1795 and died in 1876 in Letcher Co., KY. Millie "Nelly" Combs was the daughter of John "Soldier John" Combs and Margaret "Biddy" Nantz. Both William and Milly were buried in the Smith family cemetery at Smithsboro, Knott Co KY, but all the graves were removed to the Carr Memorial Cemetery in Littcarr, Knott Co., KY when the dam was constructed and Carr Lake formed. Children of William Smith and Millie "Nelly" Combs;

  John Smith was born in 1821. John Smith married Willa Myth Combs about 1842 in Letcher Co., KY. Willie was born in 1826 in Perry Co KY and died after 1880. Willa Myth was the daughter of Jeremiah "Long Jerry" Combs and Nancy Combs.

  William "Med" Smith was born on 23 September 1825 and died 9 January 1897. William Medford "Med" Smith married in 1850 in Perry Co KY to Martha Ashley (twin to Mary Ashley). Martha Ashley was born on 19 March 1831 and died 16 June 1918. Buried Carr Memorial Cemetery, Littcarr, KY. Martha Ashley was the daughter of Jordan Ashley and Barbara Secrest (Combs) (Other spellings; Sechrist, Secrist, Seacrest).

  Richard Smith was born ca 1826 and died in 1861 in the Civil War.  Richard married 9 February 1845 in Perry Co KY to Mary Polly Kelly.  Mary Polly Kelly was born in 1826 and died before 1895?. Mary Kelly was the daughter of Thomas Kelly and Nancy Mullins.

  Elizabeth Smith was born in 1827 and died before 1880. Elizabeth married about 1844 in Perry Co KY to Watson E Caudill. Watson E Caudill was born 14 March 1822 in Perry Co KY and died 5 December 1898 in Letcher Co KY. Watson was the son of Stephen Caudill and Sarah Adams.

  Sarah "Sally" Smith was born May 1828 and died 15 May 1903 in Knott Co., KY.  She married on 16 May 1845 in Perry Co., KY to George Washington Kelly.  George was born 7 January 1821 in KY and died 1904 in Knott Co., KY. George Kelly was the son of Thomas Kelly and Nancy Mullins.

  Alexander Smith was born about 1828 and died before 1890 in KY. He married in 1850 to Mary Ashley. Mary Ashley was the daughter of Jordan Ashley and Barbara Secrest. Mary was born 1834 in NC and died after 1859 in Letcher Co., KY.

  Jeremiah "Jake" Smith was born 1 February 1832 in Perry Co., KY and died 17 February 1913 in Smithsboro, Knott Co. KY.  He married 26 October 1854 in Perry Co KY to Elizabeth Stacy. Elizabeth Stacy was born in 1835 and died 1 September 1914 in Smithsboro, Knott Co. KY.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Shadrack "One Eyed" Stacy and Sarah "Sally" Combs.

  Clinton Smith was born in 1833.

  Matilda Smith b 12 Jan 1835 d 23 Apr 1909 buried Carr Memorial Cemetery md. (1st) Jehu Cody 17 Feb 1850 Letcher Co., KY Jehu was the son of Thomas Cody Sr of Russell/Scott Co., VA and Perry Co., VA and his wife Sinai Stacy.

From the Combs Family Website: Matilda SMITH Cody 1835 md 2nd Emery KINSER 9 Apr 1872 (her junior by sev. years) The Combes Genealogy refers to Emery KINSER as Amos KINSER, and states that Matilda also "... had a natural son by Wash(ington) KELLEY: Dr. Elihu, m. first, Millie ISON, second, Mattie PETREY.

  Thomas Smith b ca 1833 in KY and died after 1890. Thomas married Louraina Francis. Luraney Francis was born 11 August 1835 and died 22 November 1874. She was the daughter of Thomas Francis Jr and Louraney Polly Hagens.

  Martha Smith was born about 1837. Martha married John Cody. John Cody was born in 1836.

  Viny Nancy Smith was born about 1838. Nancy married Shadrach Combs. Shadrach was born about 1835.
